Ms.
Jenny Hsui is a founder of ChinaVest Limited, the first Venture Capital company
established in China in the early 1980s.
Prior
to being a co-founder of ChinaVest, she ran one of the largest Sporting Goods
equipment companies in China, for shipment to the USA, Europe, and Canada. She has been a pioneer in light manufacturing
products which are commonly used in Western nations today. She also led the sale of the Nanhai Number V,
a state-of the-art semi-submersible drilling rig, to Nanhai West Corporation, a
subsidiary of CNOOC, the national offshore oil corporation of China. Of
note too was her work with the UNHCR in Hong Kong in the resettlement of
Vietnamese refugees in the mid to late1970s responsible for the resettlement of
more than 70,000 people.
As
a venture capitalist, she is one of the most experienced private equity
investors in China. With more than 20 years of hands-on business experience in
Greater China, Ms. Hsui has seen the development of modern China from its early
days in the late seventies to today.
She has overseen and exited more than 25 ChinaVest investments and
played an integral role in the organization and success of ChinaVest’s M&A
advisory business.
Ms.
Hsui served on several corporate and non-profit boards in and outside of China.
She has advised Asia Info, as advisor and major investor, the first technology
company listed on Nasdaq, and the company which built the internet backbone of
China. Her other interests are in
logistics, having served as advisor to Santa Fe Transport during its sale to
East Asiatic, and Chairman and Board member of Global Silverhawk, an
international logistics company which owned the original state of the art
distribution center based in Beijing. She
also served as Chairman and Board member of Chic Logistics, a third party
logistics company based in Shanghai, and merging it with Ryder Corporation,
after 5 years. She is fiercely a
believer that modern logistics is one of the keys to the rapid expansion and
growth of China.
In
her professional capacity, she has also been a lead advisor to Heinz
Corporation, Honeywell Corporation, Rockwell Automation, Wells Fargo Corporation, Red Bull
Corporation, Chubb Insurance, 3M, Sanpower corporation.
In
2013, Ms. Hsui was awarded the highest honor of Central Government as one of
China’s top 100 Entrepreneurial Innovators for lifetime achievement in
financial services in China.
Among
other positions on various boards around the world, she was also was an active
board member of Catholic Charities of San Francisco, a not-for-profit
organization.
Ms.
Hsui is a graduate of the University of Singapore and has a postgraduate degree
from l'Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris.
