Mr. Theleen is Chairman and CEO of ChinaVest, the oldest American merchant banking firm in Greater China. Founded in 1981, ChinaVest has acted as M&A advisor to numerous Fortune 500 clients, raised over US$400 million from leading American and European institutions and invested in industries including light manufacturing, logistics, branded services, telecommunications and information technology. Mr. Theleen is currently a trustee of the Asia Foundation and serves on the Board of Beijing Enterprises, one of China’s leading Red Chip companies on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Mr. Theleen completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from Duquesne University, and has an MBA degree from the American School of International Management (Thunderbird). In 1999 he was awarded an honorary doctorate of philosophy from Loras College in Iowa for his work in China.

Ms. Hsui is one of the most experienced private equity investors in China. With over 20 years of hands-on business experience in Greater China, Ms. Hsui has overseen and exited more than 25 ChinaVest investments and played an integral role in the organization and success of ChinaVests advisory business. Ms. Hsui currently serves on several corporate and non-profit boards in and outside of China.

Ms. Hsui is a graduate of the University of Singapore, and has a postgraduate degree from l'Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris.

Mr. Tsai has over 20 years of international business experience.  In the past 5 years he has worked in China on joint-venture formation, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions in the healthcare and automotive industries completing more than US$100 million worth of transactions.  Prior to that, Mr. Tsai has held executive level positions in United States., Europe and Singapore in R&D, manufacturing, and business development in the electronics sector. 

Mr. Tsai has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of California, a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a General Manager Program certificate from Harvard Business School.

Prior to joining ChinaVest, Christian worked in the M&A and Corporate Finance groups at Robertson Stephens & Co. His transaction experience in China and the United States spans Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Energy and Distribution.

Christian graduated from the University of San Francisco with a B.S. in International Business and he received his MBA from The University of Chicago, Booth Graduate School of Business. Outside of the office, Christian is an avid sailor, telemark skier and chef.

Before joining ChinaVest, Ms. Fang worked as Strategic Investment Manager for Beijing CCID Media Investments (SZ:000504), where she was primarily responsible for corporate development and cooperation with overseas strategic partners. From 1998 until 2001, Ms. Fang worked as an investment consultant for APCO, where she provided market entry, Chinese business partner selection and other investment advisory services for telecommunications, IT, and other multinational firms. Her primary clients included IT and telecommunications firms such as BT and Palm; and financial services firms such as American Express.

Ms. Fang holds a Masters Degree in Banking Finance from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom.

Tony serves as Vice President in the Corporate Finance Department; Mr. Cai is mainly involved in the execution of Chinese sell-side mandates. Before joining ChinaVest, Mr. Cai worked in Shanghai with Polaris Securities’ investment banking team. Prior to that, he worked at International Finance News, as well as Zhuhai Brightzone Securities Investment Ltd.

Mr. Cai graduated with distinction from Xiamen University with a B.S. in Economics. He also received an MBA from Fudan University. Mr. Cai is also a Charter Holder of CFA Institution

Sophy Cao is a Vice President in the Corporate Finance Department, currently engaging mostly in deal execution. Sophy has also held a leadership role as the Deputy Head of Research in ChinaVest. Sophy started in ChinaVest as a research associate, mainly covering the manufacturing sector. Prior to ChinaVest she served as a project manager for Hollyhigh International Capital, a leading domestic M&A consulting firm. Before that, she worked in CITIC Industrial Bank Hangzhou as a foreign exchange manager.

Sophy received her Master of Commerce Degree from Macquarie University, Sydney and Bachelor of Economics from Zhejiang University.

Prior to joining ChinaVest, Mr. Harding worked at Kalis & Associates, the Los Angeles-member advertising agency of the Worldwide Partners, serving as an account executive where he handled several multi-million dollar accounts in the branded consumer product industry, with particular focus on the food & beverage and quality of life service industries.

Mr. Harding received his B.A degree in economic and government from Claremont-McKenna College, graduating with honors in economics.

Mr. Tian is an Assistant Vice President in the Corporate Finance Department, involved in buy-side & sell-side transactions, private equity house relationship management and business development activities. Before joining ChinaVest, he worked for Delta Alliance Finance Co., Ltd as the Deputy General Manager and a boutique foreign investment consultancy firm as the Project Manager.

Mr. Tian holds a Masters Degree in Investment and Finance from the Nottingham University, UK and a Bachelor Degree in Business Economics from the Middlesex University, London, UK.

Mr. Chen is an Assistant Vice President at ChinaVest where he has participated in various corporate finance and M&A projects throughout many sectors. Prior to ChinaVest, he worked in Huawei Technologies at their Asia Pacific headquarters, specializing in project financing.

Mr. Chen received a master’s degree in finance from Fudan University and a bachelor’s degree from Renmin University of China.

Mr. Grisham is an Assistant Vice President in the Corporate Finance Department involved in both buy-side and sell-side transactions, deal execution, and business development. Before joining ChinaVest, he was a strategic consultant for multi-national companies including Lenovo in the technology and health-care sectors.

Mr. Grisham received his MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from Duke University.
